The short answer

Gym Junksters handles appliance removal across Broward and southern Palm Beach County. Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, ranges, water heaters, TVs and electronics. We disconnect it, dolly it out, and get the refrigerant recovered by a certified technician the way federal law requires. Same day and next day are both normal. Free quotes: (954) 774-0277.

A dead refrigerator is the most annoying object a house can produce. It is three hundred pounds, it is in a doorway that is somehow narrower than it was on delivery day, and half the cities in Broward will not take it at the curb unless you have done something specific to it first.

Gym Junksters disconnects it and dollies it out. Fridges, chest freezers, wine coolers, window A/C units, dehumidifiers, ranges, water heaters, dishwashers, and the televisions and computers no curbside program in this area will accept. If the laundry pair is in a closet with a bifold door and a floor drain, that is the normal version of this job, not the hard one.

What goes in the truck

  • Refrigerators, freezers and wine coolers
  • Washers, dryers and dishwashers
  • Ranges, ovens, cooktops and microwaves

Why does a refrigerator cost more to remove than a dryer?

Refrigerant. Under Section 608 of the federal Clean Air Act, the refrigerant in a fridge, freezer, window A/C unit, dehumidifier or water cooler has to be recovered by a certified technician before the unit can be disposed of. That is a real, unavoidable cost on every sealed system, and it is named in the quote rather than folded in quietly. A dryer has none of it. It is heavy and awkward, and that is all it is.

Will you take my old TV?

Yes, and almost nobody else will. Televisions, monitors, printers and computers are regulated e-waste in Florida rather than household trash, and the handling fee per item is passed through and stated up front. Old CRT tube sets and rear-projection televisions cost more because the glass in them is leaded.

Do I need to disconnect the washer before you get here?

No, but three things help if you have five minutes, because they keep water off your floor.

  • Shut the supply valves. The hot and cold taps behind a washer are usually seized after ten years in Florida water. If they will not turn, leave them and tell us.
  • Empty the fridge and the freezer the night before. A full chest freezer is a different weight class, and thawing ice in a truck bed is nobody’s favorite smell.
  • Clear the path, not the appliance. Move the laundry basket and the shoe rack. Do not try to walk a range down a step by yourself. That is how a foot gets broken, and it is the entire reason we exist.

How the job runs, start to finish

Four steps. Three of them are ours.

  1. Send a photo of the fridge, the washer, the water heater

Or call and describe it. What sets the price is how much room the load takes up in the truck, and a picture shows that. (954) 774-0277, call or text.

  2. We look at it and quote it on site

In writing, before anything moves. That number covers the carry, the drive, every dump fee and sweeping the spot afterwards. Nothing gets added on the way out.

  3. We do the carrying

Down the stairs, through the side gate, out from behind the screen cage. Nothing has to be at the curb first and nothing has to come apart first. You point at it.

  4. You pay once it is in the truck

Cash, card or digital. Not a deposit, not up front, and the quote you approved is the quote you pay.

Appliance & Electronics Removal: the questions we get

Who removes the freon from an old refrigerator?

A technician certified under Section 608 of the federal Clean Air Act. The refrigerant has to be recovered before the appliance is disposed of. That is handled as part of the removal, and the recovery cost is stated in the quote rather than discovered later.

How much does it cost to get rid of a refrigerator in Florida?

More than a washer or a dryer, because of the certified refrigerant recovery federal law requires on any sealed system. Past that it comes down to where the unit sits, how far it has to be carried and what else is going with it. Quoted free on site, and you pay once it is on the truck.

Will you take a CRT tube television?

Yes. Old tube and rear-projection sets are handled as regulated e-waste, which is why they cost more than a flat panel and why most curbside programs in Broward refuse them. The handling fee is passed through and quoted before we load it.

Point at it. We will take it from there.
